After thousands of years of organized religion on planet Earth, people are leaving in unprecedented numbers. One ex-Mormon filmmaker sets out to find out why.
Organized religion in it's many forms has been one of the foundations of human associations and cultures for thousands of years. In the past few decades the world has been witness to a mass exodus of previously faithful people leaving their lifelong religions in unprecedented numbers. A Salt Lake City, Utah based ex-Mormon filmmaker, after losing his faith in his lifelong religion, decided to explore the reasons behind the reduction of congregations worldwide.
Starting with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, commonly known as the Mormons, he interviews the faithful people still in their faiths, church leadership, and the people no longer practicing their faith to find out their individual reasoning behind their faith based decisions. Through the research and interviews in this film, we may come closer to understanding why it seems that organized religion on planet Earth may be closer to phasing out of existence forever.
The first round of interviews are complete and the editing process is underway. After a short concept film is complete, major efforts for funding will begin.
As the film evolves, it could possibly transform into a docuseries as each one could focus on a particular religion.
